Ranges
Mountain bikes are generally classified into ranges, mainly according to their equipment, performance and price. Understanding these differences means you can choose a bike that's right for you, your level of riding and your budget, without paying for features you don't necessarily need.
Entry-level
Entry-level mountain bikes are designed for beginners or occasional mountain bikers. They allow you to discover the sport and ride on simple to moderate terrain.
The equipment is reliable but basic, with heavier, less performance-oriented components.
Mid-range
The mid-range offers an excellent compromise between performance, comfort and price. The bikes are lighter, better equipped and more versatile, allowing you to progress technically and ride more varied terrain.
This is often the most popular range, as it meets the needs of the majority of regular riders.
Top of the range
Top-of-the-range mountain bikes are designed for maximum performance. They use lightweight, top-of-the-range materials, such as carbon, and high-performance components.
These bikes offer excellent performance, precise handling and optimum comfort, but represent a greater investment.
How do you choose your range?
The right choice of range depends above all on your riding style, your ability and your budget. A higher range is not always necessary: the main thing is to have a bike that is consistent with your actual use.
